Job overview and responsibilities

The Sales Support Representative’s primary focus is to maximize the amount of time that the account management team spends out of the office in front of customers. Oversees and resolves administrative issues relating to all sales programs. Provides day to day support to the sales team by assisting in creation of ad-hoc customized sales proposals, presentations, and business letter responses. Uses timely responsiveness, specific technical/product knowledge, and networking prowess with internal departments to gain competitive advantage, build customer loyalty and drive incremental revenue and share.

  • Assists account management team in execution of sales plans

  • Gathers competitive information, liaises with Corporate and Agency analysts to obtain necessary data and reports

  • Identifies new client, market opportunities and presents research leads to the account management teams for pursuing

  • Supports the field sales teams on local activities to drive revenue and share performance from the customer portfolio and support company initiatives

  • Tasks include but are not limited to fare related inquiries, upgrade requests, waiver & favor requests, debit memo or refund escalations, customer relations escalations

  • Coordinate with other United divisions (i.e. baggage, reservations, airport, customer relations, pricing, etc) to mediate and resolve customer issues within timely manner

  • Develop administrative process for implementing and tracking budget items (excluding non-contracted and contracted Waivers, Favors & Traveler Services), with sharp focus on audit ready compliance

  • Assist account managers in development and delivery of high impact client presentations

  • Assist with special projects and assignments as requested by RSM

  • Handle office related administrative and secretarial work, including but not limited to travel arrangement for visitor, related vendor management including office stationary etc; manage inventory of sales promotional items and souvenirs

This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.


  • Bachelor degree or at least 3 years equivalent work experience

  • Strong team player skills

  • Strong communication, presentation and relationship building skills

  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to develop new and better approaches to challenges

  • Sales and Reservation technology (MS Office, Sales Insight, CRS)

  • Experience using formulas in Microsoft Excel

  • Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)

  • At least 3 or more years airline experience in the area of sales to/from Asia and North America point of sale

  • Must be legally authorized to work in China for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
